Answers to Common Questions

Why do modern TVs make dialogue harder to understand?

Many modern televisions are extremely thin. While this makes them visually appealing, it also limits the size and placement of the speakers inside them.

Small speakers with limited acoustic volume often struggle to reproduce the vocal range clearly. As a result, dialogue can sound thin or difficult to understand, especially when combined with loud music and sound effects.

This is one reason many viewers rely on subtitles.

Cinereo® systems solve this problem by using the CineVox™ Dialogue Driver, a full-range driver designed specifically for vocal reproduction.

Because the entire vocal band is reproduced by a single coherent driver, voices remain natural, articulate, and easy to understand.

In many cases, viewers find they no longer need subtitles at all.

Why does Cinereo® use 3.1 instead of 5.1 or more?

For most living rooms, 3.1 is the right architecture.

Film soundtracks are built around dialogue anchored to the screen. In traditional home theater systems, that dialogue comes from the center channel, supported by left and right speakers and reinforced by bass.

Cinereo® focuses on doing these essential elements exceptionally well rather than filling the room with additional speakers.

By combining the CineVox™ Dialogue Driver, true hi-fi stereo channels, and integrated cinema bass, Cinereo® systems deliver the core cinematic experience without the complexity of multiple speakers, cables, and installation.

During development we tested systems with and without additional surround speakers. In most living rooms, listeners found they didn’t miss the extra channels. What they noticed instead was clearer dialogue, better music reproduction, and a dramatically simpler system.

Cinereo® is built around the idea that great cinema sound should be effortless to live with.

How is Cinereo® better than a soundbar?

Soundbars are designed primarily for convenience. They are compact and easy to install, but their small drivers and heavy digital processing limit how naturally they can reproduce voices and music.

Cinereo® takes a different approach.

Instead of simulating a larger sound system in a narrow bar, Cinereo® systems use real hi-fi speaker architecture integrated into a single piece of furniture.

Inside the console are:

• the CineVox™ Dialogue Driver for vocal clarity
• dedicated left and right stereo speakers for music and film soundtracks
• two integrated subwoofers designed to deliver deep, controlled bass

Because these components have more physical space to work properly, they reproduce sound more naturally and with far greater dynamic range.

The result is a system that installs as easily as a soundbar but performs much closer to a traditional hi-fi and cinema system.

Why are full-range drivers better for dialogue?

Human hearing is extremely sensitive to timing differences in the vocal range.

Many conventional center speakers divide the vocal spectrum across multiple drivers and crossover networks. While this approach can increase output, it can also introduce small timing differences that blur articulation and reduce intelligibility.

The CineVox™ Dialogue Driver takes a different approach.

By allowing a single full-range driver to reproduce the entire dialogue band, CineVox™ preserves the natural timing, tonal continuity, and phase coherence that make voices sound clear and natural.

The result is dialogue that feels anchored to the screen and easy to understand—even in complex film soundtracks.

Why are most TVs mounted too high?

In many homes, televisions are mounted high on the wall because people are used to seeing screens placed that way in public spaces such as sports bars and waiting rooms.

But in a living room environment, the most comfortable viewing position places the center of the screen closer to eye level when seated.

When televisions are mounted too high, viewers must tilt their heads upward during long viewing sessions, which can cause fatigue in the neck and shoulders.

Cinereo® consoles are designed with a low-profile furniture form that naturally positions televisions lower on the wall and directly in the viewer’s line of sight.

The result is a viewing experience that feels more relaxed and comfortable—especially during long movies or series.

Can Cinereo® replace my stereo system for music?

Yes. Cinereo® systems are designed to perform as both cinema systems and hi-fi music systems.

Music is reproduced through dedicated left and right channels, preserving the stereo imaging and tonal balance intended in the original recording.

The system can accept a wide range of audio sources, including:

• televisions via HDMI
• streamers or DACs
• turntables with a phono stage
• Bluetooth devices
• other external audio sources

Because the stereo channels are designed with hi-fi performance in mind, Cinereo® systems can reproduce music with the clarity, dynamics, and realism expected from a dedicated stereo system.

What happens if a speaker needs replacement?

Cinereo® systems are designed to be maintained and enjoyed for many years.

If a driver ever needs replacement, there is no need to ship the entire console back for service.

Instead, Cinereo® sends the replacement driver directly to you along with a clear instructional video showing how to perform the replacement.

Most driver replacements can be completed in minutes using basic tools.

This approach avoids the inconvenience of shipping large furniture-sized equipment and reinforces a simple idea:

Your Cinereo® system is built to stay in your home.

How does Cinereo® deliver bass without an external subwoofer?

Deep bass is essential to cinematic sound. Explosions, musical scores, and environmental effects all rely on low frequencies to create scale and emotional impact.

Cinereo® systems incorporate two integrated subwoofers inside the console.

Using two subwoofers instead of one allows the system to distribute bass energy more evenly throughout the room while maintaining a visually clean installation.

The system automatically optimizes bass performance for the space, ensuring deep and controlled low-frequency output without the need for external subwoofer boxes or additional cables.

The result is cinematic bass that remains completely integrated into the living room environment.
